About the role
Performs skilled water safety work in preventing accidents and injuries at a County swimming pool. Safeguards patrons and enforces safety rules; instructs swim lessons for all ages; rescues bathers in distress; performs emergency water rescue techniques; administers First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), or Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when necessary. P rovides positive and professional assistance to patrons; assists with routine facility maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Qualified applicants for this position must possess the following valid certificates at time of application :
- American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Training/recognized equivalent Certification
- ARC or American Heart Association CPR/AED Certification
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification/recognized equivalent Certification
- ARC Standard First Aid OR First Responder OR FL Emergency Medical Technician (EMT/Paramedic Certification ANDMust obtain the following Certification within 90 days of hire :
- ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- One (1) year of experience as a Lifeguard, and
- Valid ARC WSI Certification. NOTE It is not necessary to submit another application for this position if you applied 8/14/26 - 8/21/26.
