About the role

Stature Strategy is partnering with a confidential, private equity sponsored consumer services business to recruit an Interim Project Accountant. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, the company operates multiple locations throughout the Midwest. This hands-on engagement focuses on an accounts receivable and accounts payable cleanup project, helping the finance team resolve historical items, improve account accuracy, and establish sustainable processes. MUST be available to commute to Grand Rapids a few times during the project.
What You’ll Do: Review AR/AP aging reports and reconcile balances to the general ledger. Investigate and resolve unapplied cash, outstanding invoices, payment discrepancies, and other historical items. Coordinate with internal teams, customers, and vendors to obtain documentation and resolve discrepancies. Prepare supporting schedules and correcting journal entries as needed. Track cleanup progress, communicate outstanding issues, and document processes for ongoing maintenance.
What You’ll Bring: Experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Controller, or project accounting consultant. Strong working knowledge of AR/AP, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. Demonstrated success resolving accounting backlogs or completing cleanup projects. Strong Excel skills and comfort working across accounting systems and large data sets. A detail-oriented, practical approach and the ability to work independently. Experience with multi-site, consumer services, or private equity sponsored businesses is helpful.
Engagement Details: Approximately four months. Primarily remote, with some onsite visits required at the company’s Grand Rapids headquarters. Candidates must be able to travel to Grand Rapids as needed. Interested? Apply for a confidential conversation. Please include your availability and desired hourly rate.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
