About the role
Lecturer Position The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Human Development, Statistics, & Research Methods at the undergraduate level. This non-tenure track faculty position, based in the Department of Psychological Science, is a 10-month academic year position. Responsibilities include a full-time instructional load teaching five courses in areas of expertise within the academic discipline, regular course meetings and instruction, mentoring students, and contributing to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman or sophomore seminar courses. All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors, attend Department meetings and events, and stay current in their field. Required qualifications include a terminal degree in Psychology or a closely related field, meeting SACSCOC accreditation requirements, and some teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline, prior teaching experience at the university level, and coursework and previous experience teaching Psychological Statistics, Research Methods, Introduction to Psychology, & Introduction to Human Development. The proposed salary is $61,000.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include building positive student relationships and providing mentorship, engaging in continuous professional development, managing multiple courses and administrative responsibilities, solving problems and making data-driven decisions, collaborating with colleagues and participating in service, demonstrating leadership and taking initiative, adapting to changing institutional needs, maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines, subject matter expertise and current disciplinary trends, curriculum design and program outcome alignment, assessment methods and student learning measurement, accreditation standards, academic policies, procedures, and ethics, educational technology and learning management systems, course design and delivery, learning activity development and facilitation, technology integration and LMS proficiency, valid assessment instrument development, constructive feedback provision, data analysis for instructional improvement, clear verbal and written communication, professional presentation abilities, active listening and collaboration, discipline-relevant software proficiency, multimedia and presentation tools, and basic troubleshooting capabilities.
