About the role
Our client, an established engineering firm with a growing structures group, is hiring a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead bridge design on design-build and conventional transportation projects. The firm partners closely with construction teams, so engineers here are involved from the proposal stage through construction rather than handing off drawings and moving on. This role suits an engineer who wants technical ownership, enjoys working alongside builders, and is ready to develop the next generation of bridge engineers.
What You'll Do:
Act as Engineer of Record or Engineer in Charge on bridge projects Guide projects from proposal through design and into construction Build project plans covering scope, schedule, staffing, and technical approach Manage several projects at once while holding to quality, budget, and schedule targets Lead analysis and design of steel, prestressed concrete, and cast-in-place concrete bridges Produce and review plans, calculations, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates Contribute to design-build proposals, including technical concepts, schedules, and quantity estimates Take part in ATCs, value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk sessions Work directly with contractors, owners, and other design disciplines to develop buildable solutions Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and QA/QC reviews Support business development and client relationships
What You Bring:
Active PE license 10+ years of bridge design experience with increasing responsibility Design-build project experience (required)Proven ability to manage projects independently and lead multidisciplinary teamsEOR or EIC experience (preferred)Solid grasp of constructability and how contractors operate Design experience across steel, prestressed, and reinforced concrete bridges Proficiency with industry bridge design and analysis software (e.g., Micro Station, Open Bridge, LEAP, CSiBridge)State DOT project experience (preferred)Strong communication and leadership skills, and comfort in a fast-paced environment Why This Role Influence how projects get built, not just how they're drawn High autonomy and a clear path to technical leadership Help shape a structures practice that's still growing Work with experienced bridge, construction, and heavy civil professionals
