POSITION SUMMARY: The passionate, self-motivated Health & Wellness Director will work hand-and-hand with the Vice President of Health & Wellness to serve members of the Y and support their wellnessgoals. The Health & Wellness Director is a leadership role responsible for overseeing thedevelopment, implementation, and management of all fitness programs and services within theYMCA facility. This position plays a crucial role in promoting the YMCA's mission to foster ahealthy, active, and engaged community. The Health & Wellness Director leads a team of fitnessprofessionals and collaborates with other YMCA staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusivefitness experience for members of all ages and abilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and implement a diverse range of fitness programs, classes, and activities catering to members' interests and needs. Ensure that fitness programs align with the YMCA's mission, values, and safety standards. Monitor program effectiveness, gather feedback, and make necessary adjustments to continuously improve offerings. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise fitness staff, including personal trainers, group exercise instructors, and fitness floor attendants. Conduct performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to ensure a high standard of service delivery. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages member participation and engagement in fitness activities. Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain members, ensuring their fitness goals are met. Actively engage with members, addressing their feedback and concerns, and fostering a sense of community within the fitness programs. Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of fitness equipment, ensuring a safe and functional environment for members. Monitor expenses and revenues, ensuring financial goals are met while providing cost-effective fitness services. Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of members and staff during fitness activities.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field preferred. Certification from a recognized fitness organization (e.g., ACSM, NASM, ACE) is required. Previous experience in fitness program management and staff supervision is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, members, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to create and implement fitness programs suitable for diverse populations. Knowledge of safety guidelines and industry standards related to fitness equipment and exercise routines. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program needs. Upholds the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.
