About the role
Distributor Operator The distributor operator ensures safety and operates various equipment including a distributor, rollers, power broom, tamps, and bobcat. Responsibilities include shoveling asphalt, general cleanup, maintaining records of material/equipment usage, performing daily maintenance checks, reporting issues, and minor repairs. Requires a Class B CDL with tank endorsement and the ability to work extended hours in various weather conditions and loud environments. • Operate and maintain asphalt distributor truck, ensuring proper application rates and consistent coverage. • Calibrate and adjust spray bar settings for various asphalt mixes and job specifications. • Communicate effectively with paving crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations. • Monitor and manage asphalt material levels in the distributor truck. • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the truck on public roadways and job sites. • Communication - Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, while actively listening and adapting the message to the audience. • Team Player - Works cooperatively and effectively with team members to achieve shared goals, willingly assisting others and fostering a positive and productive team environment. • Safety Awareness - Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments. • Personal Accountability - Honoring your commitments to yourself and others. Taking full ownership to address and fix problems vs. deflecting blame to others. • Decision Making - Makes informed, effective, and timely decisions by evaluating available information, considering potential outcomes, and choosing the best course of action; analyzes options, weighs risks and benefits, and uses sound judgment to reach decisions that align with organizational goals and values. • Work Ethic - Committed to high-quality work, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and personal responsibility in fulfilling job duties. • A high school diploma or GED equivalent. • Class B CDL with tank endorsement is required. • Paving experience is preferred. • Proficient in operating heavy equipment, specifically asphalt distributor trucks. • Ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications, and safety guidelines. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting. • Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. • Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
