This role supervises and develops the accounting team, serves as a subject-matter resource on accounting principles and systems across the organization, and supports audits, tax preparation, and bank reporting in partnership with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the month-end close processManage the accounting system (Oracle NetSuite)Process payroll accurately and on scheduleManage multi-state payroll tax compliance, including the preparation, review, and timely filing of required federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, registrations, reconciliations, and related reporting.Manage monthly accruals for freight, shipping-components, storage, promotional, and brokerage feesOversee EDI processes and integrations to ensure the accurate and timely transmission of customer transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, acknowledgments, and related financial data; troubleshoot exceptions and coordinate resolution with internal teams and external partners.Serve as a knowledge resource to accounting personnel and managers/employees outside the Accounting department for matters pertaining to accounting principles and the accounting systemPrepare routine and ad hoc management reports based on financial informationAssist team with the monthly borrowing base calculation for the bankAssist with the preparation of 401(k) audit information and the management of the 401(k) audit processSupervisory Responsibilities This position supervises the GL accounting and payroll team, which currently includes a staff accountant and senior accountant.Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferredMinimum of five years of experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting information systemsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredAt least two years of public accounting experience preferredAt least two years of supervisory experience preferredFunctional knowledge of the following accounting areas: Cash Management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory/Cost Accounting, GAAP Financial Reporting, and Internal Controls Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelAdvanced proficiency with accounting information systems such as Oracle NetSuiteAdvanced knowledge of GAAPIntermediate knowledge of internal control design and function (COSO framework)Basic understanding of risk managementBasic proficiency with report writing softwareBasic proficiency with accounts payable processingBasic knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting business (e.g. income tax, sales & use tax, payroll tax, unemployment, labor, etc.)Ability to communicate effectively with accounting and non-accounting personnel, internal and external partiesDemonstrated commitment to Next Phase's entrepreneurial, client-first culture — thinking dynamically, acting with transparency, and committing to shared success and mutual growthHiring ProcessOur process may include application review, interviews, assessments, reference checks, and a conditional offer.Equal Opportunity Employer StatementThe Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected status.Accommodation StatementApplicants needing accommodation during the hiring process may contact human resources @ hr@nxtphz.com.Work AuthorizationEmployment is contingent upon the ability to work lawfully in the United States and completion of employment eligibility verification after hire.Background Check / Drug TestingEmployment offers may be contingent upon job-related screening, where permitted by law.At Will EmploymentEmployment with Next Phase Enterprises is at-will, meaning either the employee or the company may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, unless otherwise required by applicable law.This job postings not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the role.
