Project Mobilization: Spring 2028 to a project site within approximately one hour of Charlotte
Per Diem: $178/day available upon project site mobilization for eligible candidates
We are seeking a Principal Project Controls Specialist to lead cost management and project controls activities for a large-scale power generation construction project. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting project managers and directors throughout the lifecycle of a multi-billion-dollar EPC project. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cost forecasting, earned value management, cost and schedule integration, and project controls leadership within power generation or large industrial construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project controls activities for a large power generation construction project
  • Manage project cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting
  • Perform cost analysis, trend identification, and variance reporting
  • Support schedule and cost integration to help project teams make informed decisions
  • Review project changes and evaluate cost and schedule impacts
  • Partner with project managers, schedulers, contractors, and stakeholders to track project performance
  • Develop and present project controls reports to leadership
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to project controls team members
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant project controls experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale EPC construction projects
  • Background in power generation construction, including Combined Cycle, Simple Cycle, Solar, or Battery Energy Storage projects
  • Strong experience with cost forecasting, budgeting, earned value management, and project reporting
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, EcoSys, Maximo, and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience reviewing project changes and assessing cost and schedule impacts
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with EcoSys administration or implementation
  • Experience developing project controls reporting and dashboards
  • Familiarity with Power BI, LoadSpring, or similar reporting toolsPMP, AACE, or other project controls certifications
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring project controls professionals
