About the role

Description: Kforce has a client seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Boca Raton, FL to serve as the lead administrator for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL database environments across both on-premises and cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance* Design, implement, and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions utilizing Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, log shipping, and replication* Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and data protection strategies, including transaction log management, retention policies, and point-in-time recovery processes* Perform routine recovery validation and restore testing to ensure database recoverability and compliance with recovery objectives* Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning* Manage database scalability across cloud and on-premises environments, including compute, memory, storage, and resource allocation optimization* Administer database security controls, including role-based access, encryption technologies, key management, and least-privilege access models* Support business continuity initiatives and disaster recovery planning for critical database systems* Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues and outages, implementing preventive and corrective actions* Support audit, compliance, and data governance requirements related to database security, retention, and recoverability* Automate administrative processes and reporting through PowerShell and T-SQL scripting* Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and recovery runbooks while serving as the escalation point for database-related issues
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of database administration experience supporting enterprise SQL environments* Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environments* Experience implementing and maintaining high-availability technologies, including Always On Availability Groups and failover clustering* Experience administering Azure SQL Database and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance environments* Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, log shipping, and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) concepts* Expertise in SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning* Proficiency with T-SQL and PowerShell scripting* Working knowledge of Windows Server environments and enterprise storage platforms* Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills Preferred
