Job Information
Location: Racine, WI area (on-site, aluminum castings foundry)
Job Summary: A grinder is responsible for removing excess metal from aluminum castings and preparing finished parts for inspection, machining, or shipment. This position uses handheld and stationary grinding equipment to remove gates, risers, flash, and surface imperfections while ensuring products meet quality specifications.
Key Responsibilities: Grind, trim, and finish aluminum castings using pneumatic grinders, belt sanders, and other finishing equipment. Remove gates, risers, flash, fins, and excess material according to engineering drawings and work instructions. Inspect castings for surface defects, cracks, porosity, or dimensional issues before and after grinding. Ensure castings meet quality standards and customer specifications. Operate overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, or lifting devices to safely move heavy castings (if certified).Perform routine maintenance and daily inspections on grinding equipment. Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards. Assist with preventive maintenance and cleaning of foundry equipment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Work in high-temperature environments. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
Work Environment: Manufacturing/foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, molten metal, and moving machinery. Details:
Pay: $20-22/hr to start, depending on experience
Shift: 1st shift, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM (8.5 hrs on site, 30 min unpaid lunch)Contract position with a direct-hire opportunity after 520 hoursPPE: safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat or soft cap Hiring ASAP
