Role Description: The Senior Accountant is the first accountant working alongside our AI-powered Accountant. You will be the first accountant at Exponent and our AI/ML will learn from how you close books(that are prepared for you) from our product’s ingestion of an operator's POS, banking, payroll, and processor data, classifies and reconciles it, and automates the close. You review what the system produces, you correct it, and your corrections train the models. Your role’s unique opportunity is to train the models and company on best practices in franchiseaccounting, and help grow our business as a leader - not just an accountant. This is anindividual contributor seat today, with a defined path to leading the accounting team as thecustomer base grows.
Requirements: 4+ years of franchisee accounting for multi-unit restaurant or retail businesses, in-houseat an operator, at a firm serving them, or at a bookkeeping provider. You have owned a full close start to finish, period after period, in QuickBooks Online, Restaurant365, Sage Intacct, or similar. POS-to-deposit fluency: comps, discounts, third-party delivery holdbacks, processorfees, tips, chargebacks, and timing. Multi-entity accounting on accrual books that hold up to GAAP: consolidations, intercompany, and holding-company-to-store-LLC structures. Payroll journal entries andreconciliation to the provider.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Proximity to NYC or willingness to relocate to NYC.Active CPA license.
  • Multi-state sales tax experience.
  • Experience training or supervising other accountants.
