Role Title: Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
Location: Northeast Ohio
Schedule: Monday- Friday (Onsite)
Shift: 1st shift (7 am- 3 pm)
What You'll Do: This opportunity is with an established manufacturer that develops specialized products used across a variety of industries. The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will serve as the site's primary EHS resource, working closely with leadership to support regulatory compliance, manage safety programs, conduct audits and investigations, and promote continuous improvement across the facility.
What We're Looking For: The successful candidate will leverage data, technical expertise, and industry best practices to strengthen site EHS programs and foster a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities: Partner with leaders and employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture. Coach, train, and mentor operations leadership regarding EHS requirements, expectations, and best practices. Develop, implement, and maintain programs, policies, and procedures designed to reduce workplace risks and environmental impacts. Collaborate with regional and corporate EHS teams to share best practices and support company-wide initiatives. Lead site EHS audits, assessments, and compliance activities. Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and agency interactions. Manage incident and injury reporting processes, investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation. Ensure hazard identification, risk assessment, and observation programs are effectively executed. Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver EHS training programs. Track, analyze, and report key EHS metrics and performance indicators. Maintain knowledge of current environmental, health, and safety regulations and industry standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety performance and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.5+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience within heavy manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or process manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of environmental and occupational safety regulations and compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining EHS management systems. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to influence and build credibility with employees and leaders at all organizational levels. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and drive engagement across diverse teams. Experience utilizing technology, analytics, or AI-enabled tools to support EHS programs and performance improvement. Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CIH, CHMM, or equivalent preferred.
