Reports to: Rehab Director
Position Summary: A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Patient Care:
  • Performs services planned, delegated and supervised by the OT.Your position will include: Participation in coordination of patient care.
  • Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to participate in teaching the patient and family.
  • Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  • Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
  • Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in in-service programs
  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Position Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Texas State License to practice occupational therapy.
  • Two-year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
  • Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
Skills Required: Good interpersonal skills. Organized and resourceful self-starter, strong ability to work in a team. Excellent observation, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Works in a health care facility or patients' residence in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho- social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
