About the role

Paddock Blacksmith Applies or repairs horse shoes during racing meets. Reports to paddock judge to inspect proper shoe requirements (toe grabs) for all horses each race night. Is qualified to shoe or adjust horse racing plates on race horses each race night if required. May be required to repair or fix shoes for horses on backside prior to horses arrival in paddock. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be experienced in the replacement or repairing of horseshoes. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop. Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses as required by local gaming/racing authorities.
