Role Description:
The HVAC Lead Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. This role is responsible for leading the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation equipment. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing system issues, performing troubleshooting, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The HVAC Lead Technician coordinates with team members, provides guidance to junior technicians, and communicates clearly with customers regarding service needs, findings, and recommendations. The role also involves documenting work performed, maintaining tools and equipment, and collaborating with management to improve service quality and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving HVAC system issues efficiently. Experience with plumbing related to HVAC systems, including condensate lines and related components. Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices to extend equipment life and maintain optimal performance. Knowledge of electricity as it relates to HVAC systems, including reading wiring diagrams and safely working with electrical components. Valid EPA certification for handling and recovering refrigerants in compliance with regulations. Relevant HVAC technician experience, including leading or mentoring other technicians. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders. Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear terms. Commitment to safety practices, including use of appropriate personal protective equipment. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC certification is preferred. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites within the San Diego, CA area.
