JOB SUMMARY: Manage daily shipping and distribution operations. Ensure complete orders are shipped and delivered in a timely manner. Must be analytical, well-organized and excel in communication. Must be comfortable with paperwork and information systems and have strong knowledge of shipping procedures. The goal is to ensure that the shipping processes are running smoothly and effectively.
JOB DUTIES: Collaborate with operations, transportation and other managers to optimize processesManage and lead shipping supervisors and teamUse available systems and/or tools to track, check, and prioritize ordersDetermine labor needs by day; Assign labor based on priorityDirect the flow of loads and ensure they are staged accordinglyManage all shipping related documents and spreadsheetsInspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed ordersOrder necessary shipping suppliesResolve issues regarding ordersEnsure compliance to legal regulations and company policiesEnsure all work areas are kept clean and organized and are free of safety hazardsManage forklift testing/certificationManage customer cart return processReport to management on activities and issuesOther duties as assignedRequirements: Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, business or related field preferredFive + years of experience as shipping managerSolid knowledge of shipping proceduresComputer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) Good understanding of budgeting and reportingExperience in directing and evaluating teamsExcellent organizational and communication skillsAttention to detailProblem-solving abilities
