About the role

Sergeant Public Safety Supervises police officers and security guards and assists in training and evaluation of police officers. Regulates criminal activity, oversees pedestrian and vehicular traffic, patrols on and around campus, prepares testimony for legal proceedings and provides special security upon university request.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in training and evaluation of police officers.
  • Supervises officers and responds to any issues that arise
  • Regulates criminal activity and responds to violations as indicated by the law.
  • Oversees pedestrian and vehicular traffic and enforces laws as they relate to the road.
  • Patrols areas on and around campus.
  • Detects and responds to criminal activity
  • Prepares testimony for any legal proceeding and remains valuable through any investigations.
  • Provides special security services at the University's request.
  • Physical Effort Ability to communicate over phone/radio. Provide security protection for the campus community. Requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, and sitting. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and successfully pass any required firearms qualifications required by the department.
