Job Description: Detailed description Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for one (1) Material Handlers in our Carpet Cushion Department, at our Richmond Plant location (2400 Richmond Highway, Richmond VA 23234). Material Handlers are responsible for the efficient movement, safe transportation, storage, and tracking of materials and finished product within our facility. Furthermore, this position will utilize measuring tools, basic math and compute, complete paperwork, and conduct quality checks. Material Handlers are expected to communicate to department Supervisor, lead, and production personnel. This position is Monday through Friday, 1st Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm). Additionally, in order to meet production needs, all employees in our manufacturing industry are expected to work more than 8-hour shifts and on weekends (if needed).Compensation for this rate begins at $21.42 and tops at $22.97 an hour
Essential Functions:
  • Operate powered industrial trucks to pick up, move, or load material in support of Carpet Cushion operations, as necessary, from production area and/or to the loading docks.
  • Pull raw/finished materials from inventory/stock area.
  • Properly label all partial blocks for future use.
  • Operate a forklift in confined areas where other forklifts are operating and where employees are walking and working.
  • Follow the Carpet Cushion department layout plan for proper storage locations.
  • Read and completely understand the labeling process.
  • Read and write English.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment
  • Other related duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have prior experience in manufacturing, chemical, or production environment. Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills.
