About the role

Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and programs aligned with organizational goals and business objectives. Lead a team of three HR professionals responsible for DOT and regulatory compliance for a fleet of 30+ HAZMAT drivers, including FMCSA requirements, drug and alcohol testing programs, audits, recordkeeping, and applicable federal, state, and local labor laws. Partner with senior leadership on workforce strategy, organizational planning, employee relations, performance management, and key HR initiatives. Develop and implement leadership development, talent management, career development, and succession planning programs to strengthen the organization’s leadership pipeline. Oversee and enhance the employee onboarding and orientation process, ensuring new hires are effectively integrated and positioned to contribute quickly. Lead workforce planning initiatives to support changes in project mix, staffing requirements, organizational structure, and overall company growth. Advise executive leadership on HR strategy, employee relations matters, compliance requirements, workforce risks, and organizational development initiatives. Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, providing HR expertise and contributing to company-wide strategic planning and decision-making. Oversee employee relations activities, including investigations, performance concerns, conflict resolution, corrective action, and workplace issues. Ensure consistent and compliant application of company policies, employment practices, disciplinary procedures, and performance management processes. Manage the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, development plans, and performance improvement plans. Develop and implement employee engagement, recognition, retention, and culture initiatives designed to improve morale and strengthen the employee experience. Partner with managers and department leaders to identify staffing needs, improve team effectiveness, address employee concerns, and support organizational changes. Oversee recruiting and talent acquisition efforts, including workforce needs analysis, job descriptions, candidate selection, interviewing, and hiring processes. Support compensation and benefits initiatives, including market analysis, salary reviews, employee communications, and coordination with benefits providers. Manage HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour requirements, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and other applicable regulations. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation while ensuring compliance with record-retention requirements and audit standards. Lead HR-related audits and ensure timely preparation of documentation, reporting, and corrective action plans. Partner with leadership to foster a safety-focused, inclusive, accountable, and performance-driven workplace culture. Oversee HR administrative functions, including personnel records, HRIS management, employee documentation, reporting, policy acknowledgments, and document retention. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency, enhance the employee experience, and support business growth. Develop and deliver employee and management training programs covering company policies, compliance, safety, leadership, performance management, and professional development.
