About the Opportunity: A well-established commercial general contractor in the Indianapolis area is looking to add an experienced Estimator to their team. This is an opportunity to join a growing organization where the Estimator will play a key role in pursuing new work, developing accurate project budgets, and helping move projects from initial concept through contract award. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction, estimating, subcontractor coordination, and project costs. This person should be comfortable taking ownership of estimates while working closely with project management, clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the estimating process from initial project review through final bid submission Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids Develop detailed project budgets and cost estimates Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and potential project risks Review and level subcontractor proposals Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walk-throughs Assist with value engineering and cost-saving opportunities Prepare conceptual estimates and budgets during early project development Maintain accurate estimating documentation and project files Assist with negotiated and competitive bid opportunities Coordinate with project management during the transition from estimating to construction Participate in project turnover meetings Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners Track market conditions, material pricing, labor costs, and subcontractor availability Project Types The Estimator will have the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial construction projects throughout the Indianapolis market, including: Commercial buildings Office and corporate facilities Industrial and manufacturing Retail Multifamily Hospitality Healthcare Education Tenant improvements Renovations and additions Ground-up construction Qualifications 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing Experience completing quantity takeoffs and detailed estimates Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings Experience soliciting and leveling subcontractor and vendor bids Strong understanding of labor, material, and subcontractor costs Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required Why Consider This Opportunity?
