Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Senior Tekla Detailer to lead the detailing of structural steel fabrication projects from design through production. This role combines hands-on modeling with technical leadership, ensuring accurate fabrication drawings, maintaining detailing standards, mentoring team members, and improving departmental processes. The ideal candidate has extensive experience using Tekla Structures within a structural steel fabrication environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality models while driving efficiency, consistency, and continuous improvement across the detailing team.
Responsibilities: Produce and review detailed Tekla models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication packages for structural steel projects. Develop, implement, and maintain company standards for Tekla modeling, detailing, and drawing production. Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to detailers through training, quality reviews, and best practices. Coordinate with engineers, Project Managers, fabrication personnel, and production teams to resolve detailing and constructability issues. Review structural drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and engineering documents to ensure model accuracy. Perform quality control reviews of models and fabrication drawings before release to production. Support fabrication and field teams by responding to RFIs, revisions, and detailing questions throughout the project lifecycle. Identify opportunities to improve detailing workflows, automation, templates, and department efficiency. Assist with workload planning, scheduling, and prioritization to ensure project deadlines are met. Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, and consistency across the detailing department.
Requirements: 8+ years of structural steel detailing experience with advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures. Experience working in a structural steel fabrication environment is required. Demonstrated experience developing or improving Tekla standards, workflows, templates, or detailing procedures. Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising structural steel detailers. Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, connection detailing, erection sequencing, and shop drawing production. Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents. Experience coordinating with engineering, fabrication, production, and project management teams. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting production schedules. Advanced Tekla Structures expertise is required.
