About the role
- Schedules all clinic appointments in EPIC for new referrals and return visits via basket, telephone, fax or email. Triage calls appropriately for requesting preliminary appointments; exercises judgment in referring emergency calls.
- Maintains all clinic schedules once submitted
- Checks in patients upon arrival, assembles paperwork for new patients, notifies therapist
- Answers and direct internal and external phone calls verifying demographics, guarantor, insurance and financial data required for billing.
- Orders office supplies, as approved by Office Manager
- Manage patients check in (billhold) with accuracy and within established department timeframes.
- Demonstrates flexibility to support onsite or any satellite clinic hours
- Obtains authorization for treatment from managed care organizations and/or explains self-pay options to patients. Directs patients to Outpatient Services staff as necessary.
- Utilizes a wide variety of computer systems effectively.
- Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPPA legislation, and all other applicable federal, state, local, and institutional regulations with regard to confidentiality
- Follows AIDET with all customers and assists in the resolution of patient and other customer complaints
- Performs other duties assigned.
