Job Title: Designer I, II, or Sr. Designer Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Pipeline CAD Designer to be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed pipeline engineering drawings and design documents using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD. This role supports pipeline planning, design, and construction by transforming survey data into accurate design models, surfaces, alignments, profiles, and plan-and-profile drawing packages. The ideal candidate has experience working with survey points, pipeline alignments, profile development, and production of construction-ready plan and profile sheets.
Key Responsibilities: Import, manage, and process survey data for pipeline design projects. Utilize survey files to create and maintain accurate existing project surfaces. Develop and modify Civil 3D alignments and profiles based on engineering criteria and project requirements. Prepare detailed plan and profile alignment sheets for permitting, design review, and construction. Prepare right-of-way exhibits, crossing exhibits, and permit exhibits as needed. Maintain drawing databases, templates, styles, and drafting standards. Perform thorough quality control reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards. Utilize Bluebeam Revu for efficient document markup, review, and cross-functional collaboration. Build and maintain strong working relationships with engineers, clients, vendors, project stakeholders, and field teams. Participate in internal and external project meetings to support coordination, resolve design issues, and ensure project alignment across multiple disciplines.
Requirements: Associate’s degree or formal training in Drafting, Pipeline Design, or a related technical field required. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered. 4+ years of experience. Title and level will be commensurate with experience. Candidates with significant additional relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Designer title. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Demonstrated experience using survey data to develop basemaps. Experience creating and editing Civil 3D alignments and profiles. Familiarity with GIS platforms and data integration is a plus. Ability to identify design conflicts and propose practical resolutions. Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy with minimal supervision.
