Employment Attorney — Los Angeles, CA-REMOTE! 3-6 month Contract (Fully Remote)
Position Summary:
The Employment Attorney will advise and represent employers and/or employees in a broad range of employment-law matters. The attorney will handle cases involving wage and hour disputes, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, workplace accommodations, employment contracts, and other California employment-law issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise clients on federal, California, and local employment laws and regulations. Represent clients in employment litigation, administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations. Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, policies, and other employment-related documents. Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents. Handle depositions, hearings, settlement conferences, and trial preparation. Investigate workplace complaints involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage violations, and wrongful termination. Counsel clients regarding hiring, termination, leave, accommodations, discipline, workplace policies, and employee relations. Monitor changes in California and federal employment law and advise clients regarding compliance. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, agencies, and other stakeholders. Manage caseloads, deadlines, budgets, and client relationships.
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school. Active California State Bar license and good standing. Experience practicing employment law, preferably in California. Strong knowledge of California employment laws, including wage-and-hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leave, and wrongful termination laws. Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills. Strong organizational and case-management abilities. Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently.
