About the role
Due to growth of our contract staffing business Simply Driven is building out a payroll & accounting team. We are seeking a Payroll Manager - responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Preferably with experience in high volume recruiting/staffing environments.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing across pay groups and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax laws, including federal Form 941, state withholding, FUTA, and SUTA.Manage garnishments, deductions, benefits, and insurance plans.
- Review and approve payroll runs, resolve exceptions, and reconcile payroll totals.
- Coordinate payroll audits and respond to findings.
- Maintain payroll records, prepare reports, and monitor compliance alerts.
- Additional knowledge in Unemployment; Workers Compensation; FMLA; Child
- Support / Withholdings; ACA / Insurance & Benefit Calculations
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or HR (preferred).Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of multistate or multijurisdiction payroll compliance.
- Certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) are strongly preferred.
- Essential Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills:
End To End payroll processing, tax law knowledge, system administration.
Analytical Skills: Auditing payroll data, analyzing payroll costs and trends.
Leadership: Team management, cross department collaboration.
Staffing Industry: Current or Prior experience in the Staffing Industry is a plus
