About the role

Climate Action Organizer Vermont Natural Resources Council, in collaboration with its strategic partner, Vermont Conservation Voters, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Climate Action Organizer to support our policy, electoral and grassroots campaigns, volunteer management, and outreach. This role will be focused on community and public engagement, grassroots organizing, and campaign management and advancement. The organizer will help build relationships and capacity in communities across Vermont, including through the Vermont Energy and Climate Action Network (VECAN), and will work to identify and strengthen relationships with other Vermont nonprofits, businesses, stakeholders and community leaders that can be effective partners in our mission.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a background in organizing, campaign work, or community engagement, an interest in environmental issues and building climate resilience in Vermont and a demonstrated commitment to advocacy, and the ability to think and plan strategically as part of a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to multitask to meet deadlines is a must. Experience with EveryAction/NGP VAN software is preferred, but not required. Employment Details The starting salary range for this position is between $43,000 and $47,000, plus a generous benefits package that includes: an $18,000 annual stipend that may be used for pre-tax benefits (e.g., health care) or taken as salary; generous paid leave; a 3% employer match to a SIMPLE IRA; and a flexible and hybrid work schedule. VNRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and strongly encourages applications from candidates whose identities have been historically underrepresented in the environmental movement, including people who identify as Black, Indigenous, Hispanic or Latino, Asian or Pacific Islander, or people of color; people from historically disenfranchised economic backgrounds; and people living with disabilities. To apply, please send a single PDF document with a letter of interest, resume, and three references to Alex Connizzo, aconnizzo@vnrc.org with the subject line "Climate Action Organizer". All submissions will be treated confidentially. The deadline to apply is June 7, 2024, but applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
