About the role

Email Marketing Specialist (Cannabis Retail) About Gold Standard Solutions Gold Standard Solutions is a specialized marketing agency that works exclusively with cannabis retailers. We power high-impact email and SMS programs, loyalty systems, websites, and digital marketing strategies for dispensaries across New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Massachusetts, and markets nationwide. Every month, we report our clients’ performance directly in revenue generated—not vanity metrics. Every campaign we ship has to earn its keep. We are a lean, agile team that moves quickly, collaborates closely, and measures direct business impact. You will work side-by-side with our strategists and see the exact revenue your campaigns produce.
The Role: We are looking for an Email Marketing Specialist to build and ship the revenue-driving email campaigns our dispensary partners send to their customers. Your work will span weekly deals, exclusive product drops, major holiday promotions (yes, 4/20 is our Black Friday), VIP loyalty offers, and automated win-back flows. You’ll work primarily inside our proprietary in-house campaign software as well as the specialized retail CRM platforms used across our client base. This position requires a sharp designer’s eye paired with an editor’s patience. A typo, a dead link, or a mispriced menu item goes out to tens of thousands of subscribers instantly. We value precision and craft: getting it right before hitting send matters. What You’ll DoBuild & Deploy Campaigns: Turn creative briefs into polished, mobile-responsive emails using our internal tools; schedule and send across a diverse client roster on time. Design for Multi-Brand Portfolios: Adapt seamlessly to different dispensary identities. Create layouts that honor each client's unique visual style and voice while making value propositions and offers immediately obvious. Rigorous Quality Assurance (QA): Proofread copy, test every link and promo code, cross-reference prices and SKUs against dispensary menus, and preview inbox rendering across devices before anything deploys. Maintain Regulatory Compliance: Strictly adhere to state cannabis advertising laws (e.g., zero health claims, strictly age-gated compliance, mandatory warning labels/disclaimers) alongside client-specific brand standards. Analyze & Optimize: Review open rates, click-through rates, and attributed revenue alongside the strategy team. Run A/B tests on subject lines and layouts, incorporating data-backed learnings into subsequent sends. Support SMS Marketing: Assist in building, testing, and scheduling SMS broadcasts alongside email initiatives. Drive Tool Evolution: Serve as a core power user for our proprietary platform, providing continuous product feedback to improve internal workflows and UI.
What We’re Looking For: Must-Haves1–3+ years of experience in email marketing, e-commerce, retail marketing, or digital production. Portfolio / Work Samples: 2–3 concrete examples of email layouts you have personally written, designed, or built. Meticulous Eye for Detail: Zero-tolerance mindset for broken links, grammatical errors, rendering bugs, or formatting misalignments. Core Marketing Literacy: Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, conversion-focused CTAs, promotional hooks, and audience segmentation. Technical Adaptability: Comfortable rapidly learning and mastering proprietary software platforms. Collaborative Communication: Strong written communication skills, receptive to fast feedback, and capable of quick iterative turnarounds.
Nice-to-Haves: Prior experience with major ESPs (e.g., Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Braze).Direct experience in the legal cannabis space, or familiarity with industry platforms like Dutchie, Alpine IQ, or Springbig. Foundational HTML/CSS for email, or working knowledge of design software (Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud).Proven track record of balancing deliverables across multiple client accounts simultaneously.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
