About the role
- Conduct data analysis and assess data management requirements for a Platform or Journey, including complex analysis spanning multiple pods or products
- Maintain expert knowledge of upstream data through data profiling, data quality reporting, and metadata production
- Support data acquisition and ingestion
- Present complex, large-scale technical design and development details to non-technical business partners
- Elicit and analyze business and data requirements to deliver complete business solutions, including entity relationship diagrams, dimensional data models, ETL, business rules, data life-cycle management, governance, lineage, and metadata
- Ensure data is maintained in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies, and guidelines
- Develop and maintain complex data models using industry standard modeling tools
- Develop and maintain complex ETL jobs and frameworks using the bank’s standard tools
- Support development and testing teams to resolve data issues, including escalation support on complex issues
- Assist partners and stakeholders with interpreting and analyzing data
- Build effective working relationships within the pod and across partner teams to support pod deliverables
- Coordinate with technology work teams such as ITS, ARE, Architecture, Enterprise Protect, and related groups to support delivery success
- Support QA by performing data analysis and investigations for complex issues and test cases as part of SIT/UAT/PAT testing
- Provide oversight for post-implementation activities during the warranty period
- Execute and approve code check-in and check-out into the source code repository as part of source code management
- Support code packaging and deployment (CI and CD) into higher environments with ITS/ARE teams
- Act as a lead participant in design and architecture reviews

- Now requests and work with the change management team to support release management activities
- Lead data engineering initiatives, including data governance principles and their application across the organization
- Ensure metadata and data lineage are captured and remain compatible with enterprise metadata and data management tools and processes
- Adhere to and contribute toward standard security coding practices to reduce common coding vulnerabilities
- Identify and document technical decisions, technical risks, and lessons learned, and implement enhancements accordingly
- Identify and manage risks, and elevate non-standard, high-risk activities when needed
- Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
- Stay current on emerging trends and developments, growing knowledge of the business and related tools and techniques
- Enable and mentor team members through knowledge sharing and engineering best practices
- Participate fully as a team member, supporting a positive work environment, quality, innovation, teamwork, and timely communication of issues and progress
- Provide thought leadership on data engineering best practices and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
- Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within the team
- Keep others informed on project status and day-to-day progress and relevant information
- Lead, motivate, and develop relationships with internal and external business partners and stakeholders
