Role Description:
We are seeking a Government Relations Associate to support our advocacy and client service efforts. This role involves monitoring legislative and regulatory activity, building relationships with elected officials and staff, conducting policy research, and producing clear, timely written materials for clients and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is comfortable engaging directly with government officials and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Meeting Coverage & Monitoring Attend and take detailed notes at industry association, business coalition, and policy council meetings on behalf of clients Monitor committee hearings, caucus meetings, and other government proceedings; report back on relevant developments Track government websites and public notices for meeting schedules, agendas, dockets, budget requests, and oversight reports Compile and distribute legislative tracking lists and updates to clients and internal team Research & Reporting Conduct in-depth research on ballot propositions, legislation, and policy issues Prepare pre-session and post-session legislative reports summarizing key outcomes and forecasts Draft election analysis reports following primary and general elections Conduct client-specific research projects as requested Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement Meet with legislators, legislative staff, and government agency representatives to advance client priorities Build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry leaders, and coalition partners Support engagement with the Governor's Office and other executive agencies Writing & Content Development Draft legislation, amendments, and policy proposals as needed Develop talking points, fact sheets, and briefing materials for clients and meetings Write and schedule newsletter content Prepare meeting materials (agendas, minutes, financial summaries) for association or coalition clients Event & Administrative Support Assist with event announcements, photo documentation, and promotional coordination for association events Support logistics and coordination for legislative tours and site visits Assist with additional administrative or project-based tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)1–5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field preferred Strong writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise materials Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Skywolf legislative tracking tool a plus Interviews will be scheduled after the position closes on October 20th.
