Job Description: FlexStaff is seeking an Architect / Job Captain to work permanently for one of our externa client, design-build architecture and construction firm based in Nassau County, NY. In this role you will be running architectural/construction projects from initial feasibility studies to handing over the certificate of occupancy to the owners.
Location: On-Site Must be able to travel between two sites in their Nassau County offices.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field 5+ years of relevant experience, including architectural drafting experience Proficiency in AutoCAD Experience with Procore and SketchUp is preferred Experience with medical facilities is preferred, including knowledge of FGI guidelines for outpatient facilities and Department of Health Article 28 (Hospitals) regulations Strong knowledge of commercial building shell design and documentation Strong understanding of Building Code and ADA requirements for commercial use Working knowledge of the agencies and permitting requirements involved in obtaining full approvals for commercial building construction, both interior and exterior Key responsibilitiesLead the development of design and construction documentsPrepare, coordinate, and review architectural drawings, plans, and specificationsSupport the Project Architect or Project Manager in managing day-to-day project tasks Coordinate with consultants such as structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineers Ensure documents are accurate, complete, and aligned with design intentReview drawings for code compliance, constructability, and consistency Assist with permit sets, agency submissions, and permit responses Participate in client meetings, internal team meetings, and consultant coordination meetings Help manage project schedules and meet deadlines Perform construction administration tasks, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings Respond to design and technical questions during construction Visit project sites as needed to review progress and resolve issues Maintain organized project files and documentation Support quality control efforts across all phases of the project *Additional Salary Details The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
