About the role
- Supervise on archeological surveys, including those with backhoe trenching
- Perform National Register of Historic Places and/or State Antiquities Landmark eligibility evaluations of archeological sites, Report writing and the management of projects from start to finish
- Split time between conducting client/agency coordination, archeological surveys, technical writing and managing CRM projects as a PI with minimum supervision
- Consult with project sponsors and state/federal regulatory agencies
- Conduct background research and obtain Antiquities permits
- Write scopes of work and conduct/Manage field work
- Interpret archeological data and author reports
- Engage with existing and potential clients to foster repeat and new business.
- Master's Degree in Anthropology with focus in Archaeology, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of Cultural Resource Management (CRM) experience as a Principal Investigator (PI) in Texas
- Thorough understanding of historic preservation laws and policies
- Demonstrable experience managing archeological surveys, including those with backhoe trenching, and testing projects
- General knowledge of geoarchaeological soil profile description
- Experience using ArcGIS mapping and GPS technology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Capable of walking for long periods of time over unfamiliar terrain, excavating shovel tests and test units, screening soil, carrying field equipment, and leading field crews
- Stooping, bending, lifting, and walking in a variety of conditions and over unfamiliar terrain
- Must be motivated and able to work safely with minimum supervision
- Must have a desire to grow within the company and help expand the CRM practice in Texas and neighboring states
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be able and willing to travel, primarily Texas and surrounding region
