We are seeking an Outside Sales Engineer to join a U.S.-based subsidiary of an international manufacturer specializing in industrial power transmission solutions. The organization serves North and South American markets with a portfolio of engineered chains, roller chains, sprockets, and related components, along with storage and logistics capabilities. The company partners with a broad range of industrial customers across sectors such as cement, bulk material handling, steel, automotive manufacturing, amusement and leisure systems, food production, and heavy industrial applications. POSITION OVERVIEW / RESPONSIBILITIESThe Outside Sales Engineer will be responsible for business development and key account management within a defined territory (Midwest). The role focuses on developing relationships with OEMs and end users, identifying new opportunities, and supporting existing accounts. Occasional support outside the assigned region may be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, execute, and track a structured regional sales plan targeting OEMs and end users Conduct in-person customer visits and virtual meetings to develop and maintain strong clientrelationships and build a consistent sales pipeline Gather technical and project requirements from customers and coordinate with internal teams toensure accurate quoting, order processing, and delivery Collaborate with product and technical teams to ensure alignment on project specifications andrequirements Manage open projects and follow through to successful delivery while maintaining high levels ofcustomer satisfaction Lead commercial discussions and negotiations to secure business and protect company interests Expand existing accounts and develop new customers with a focus on long-term partnerships Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, and industry eventsJOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred Equivalent experience in direct sales of mechanical power transmission products (e.g., chains, sprockets, gearboxes) may be considered in lieu of degree Experience in one or more heavy industrial sectors such as cement, steel, automotive manufacturing, or similar environments is highly beneficial Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with technical and commercial stakeholders Solid business acumen and analytical thinking skills Ability to travel domestically up to ~50% and internationally at least once per year Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP is a plus Additional language skills such as German or Spanish are a plus but not required
