Company Description: Emergent Mental Health Services is a private practice clinic in New York City providing individual and family therapy for adolescents and adults. The practice uses a psychodynamic, client-centered approach rooted in empathy, compassion, and non-judgment. Clinicians offer a range of evidence-based modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Role Description: This is a part-time and hybrid role based in New York City. The counselor will provide individual, couples, and family therapy to adolescents and adults using psychodynamic and evidence-based approaches aligned with the practice’s philosophy. Daily responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, facilitating ongoing counseling sessions, and documenting clinical notes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. The role also involves case management and care coordination with other providers, as well as offering guidance and support to parents and caregivers when appropriate. The counselor will participate in clinical consultations, maintain ethical practice, and contribute to a supportive, inclusive, and trauma-informed therapeutic environment.
Qualifications: License or Limited Permit in Mental Health Counseling in New York State
Clinical expertise in Mental Health with the ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of emotional and behavioral concerns. Strong skills in Treatment Planning, including developing, implementing, and revising individualized, goal-oriented care plans. Experience in individual, couples, and family therapy; and working with adolescents and adults in diverse family and relational systems. Proficiency in Case Management, including care coordination, referrals, and collaboration with multidisciplinary providers and community resources. Demonstrated familiarity with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based interventions, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Commitment to client-centered, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental practice with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and uphold all ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards. Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field. Experience in private practice or outpatient settings is beneficial; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
