Senior Manager, Corporate InsuranceThe Senior Manager, Corporate Insurance is a hands-on finance professional responsible for helping manage BMS's global insurance programs and the day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will bring strong technical insurance knowledge, analytical capability, attention to detail, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple renewals, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously. The role requires comfort working in a matrixed risk management teams, translating complex insurance and financial information into practical recommendations, and maintaining disciplined execution across the insurance program lifecycle.
Major Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesCo-lead global property and casualty insurances including Business Interruption, Property, General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, Foreign Casualty, and Excess Casualty by collecting exposure data, preparing underwriting submissions, supporting negotiations, analyzing coverage, and executing bind orders with insurers.
Efficiently work in a team environment and align priorities and strategies with the overall enterprise goals and objectives.
Manage day-to-day insurance activities, including certificate issuance for clinical studies, insurance and contract requirement reviews, and coordination with internal stakeholders, external brokers, and service providers.
Oversee premium invoicing, PO management, accruals, cost centers, reconciliation, and payment processes, validating invoices against final premium and tax allocations, resolving discrepancies with brokers, and ensuring timely and accurate payment.
Lead global premium allocations and intercompany back charges to local markets, partnering with Treasury Accounting, the Intercompany Accounting Team, and local finance to ensure accurate recording and clear communication of charges.
Support BMS's captive insurance company's governance and operation, including board and annual general meetings, financial reviews, regulatory requirements, and coordination with the captive manager and service providers.
Review insurance and indemnification provisions in vendor, supplier, and business agreements, advising Sourcing, Legal, and business partners on contractual risk transfer requirements and certificates of insurance.
Strengthen processes, reporting, analytics, and documentation across the insurance function, identifying opportunities for standardization, automation, and improved controls.
Educate business partners on insurance programs and requirements, respond to internal inquiries, and contribute to Treasury special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum education of a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, risk management, economics, or a related field is required. CPCU, ARM, MBA, or equivalent is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in corporate insurance or risk management within a multinational company, broker, or insurer or related experience is required.
Hands-on involvement in program renewals and placements is highly preferred.
Technical knowledge of commercial property and casualty lines, including property, casualty, cyber, marine/transit, environmental, and builders risk; captive insurance experience.
Experience managing broker and insurer relationships, including negotiating coverage, fees, and service agreements.
Strong understanding of premium allocations, intercompany accounting, budgeting, and the impact of insurance costs on a global organization's P&L and balance sheet.
Strong analytical capability and high attention to detail, with the ability to reconcile complex invoices, allocations, and program financials accurately.
Experience reviewing insurance requirements and indemnification provisions in commercial contracts and advising business partners on contractual risk transfer.
Collaborative style with the ability to work effectively across levels, functions, and geographies; excellent listening skills required.
Proficiency with Excel, SAP or similar ERP systems, and broker platforms; experience with reporting tools, AI usage, dashboards, and analytics preferred.
