Synthomer provides small amounts of our commercial products and experimental materials as samples to our customers and distributors. The Jefferson Sample Room Clerk prepares these samples by repackaging material from larger containers and applying the appropriate labels for shipment. The position requires a knowledgeable person with attention to detail who can safely handle a wide variety of materials and follow procedures to meet DOT and IATA shipping standards.
Job Duties:
- Maintain stock of products that are available and suitable for immediate shipment
- Maintain stock of packaging supplies
- Obtain sample orders from Sample Central/CSRs and interpret the delivery notes
- Properly use safety equipment during repackaging operations
- Repackage hazardous and non-hazardous materials from larger containers (such as 55-gallon drums 50-lb bags) into sample containers (ranging from 1 ounce to 300 pound drums)
- Correctly generate and apply the appropriate labels for the container and shipping packaging
- Remain current with regulations and training necessary for processing and shipping Hazmat samples
- Complete all SAP transactions involved with sample shipments
- Utilize hazardous shipments software to prepare and process Hazmat sample shipments
- Coordinate and process miscellaneous shipping orders (MSOs)
- Maintain records of sample shipments per the record retention requirements
- Maintain general housekeeping in the Sample Shipment area
- Provide vacation/absentee coverage for other Shipping area positions

Qualifications
Education:
Minimum High School education or the equivalent.
