SAP Project Systems (PS) Solution Architect — Functional
Location: Richmond, VAAbout the role We are seeking an experienced SAP Project Systems (PS) Solution Architect to lead the functional design of project management and project financial processes. This person will work with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements, shape practical SAP solutions, and guide delivery from design through testing and deployment. The ideal candidate combines deep SAP PS expertise with strong knowledge of its integration with Finance, Controlling, Procurement, and other relevant SAP modules. This is a functional leadership role; hands-on development is not required.
Responsibilities: Lead discovery sessions and translate business needs into SAP PS solution designs.- Design and configure project structures and processes, including project definitions, WBS elements, networks, activities, budgeting, planning, cost capture, settlement, and reporting.- Define how SAP PS integrates with FI/CO, MM, SD, and other modules relevant to the client’s processes.- Assess existing processes, identify gaps, and recommend solutions that use standard SAP capabilities where practical.- Produce functional design documents, configuration specifications, process flows, and testing scenarios.- Partner with technical teams on interfaces, enhancements, data conversion, and reporting requirements.- Guide integration testing, user acceptance testing, issue resolution, and deployment readiness.- Advise business leaders on design decisions, dependencies, and impacts across the project lifecycle.
Required qualifications: Significant functional experience with SAP Project Systems, including solution design and configuration.- Experience serving as a solution architect or functional lead on SAP implementations, transformations, or major enhancements.- Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, cost management, and settlement in SAP PS.- Experience designing SAP PS integrations with FI/CO and at least one other SAP module.- Ability to lead workshops, communicate design choices clearly, and work with both business and technical teams.- Experience supporting testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
Preferred qualifications: SAP S/4HANA implementation or migration experience.- Experience with capital projects, engineering, construction, professional services, or another project-intensive environment.- Familiarity with project reporting, analytics, and data migration.- Experience working in a regulated or large enterprise environment.
