Director, Patient Access & Financial Clearance Onsite position near Queens, NYSeeking an experienced Revenue Cycle leader to provide strategic and operational leadership for Patient Access and Financial Clearance across a hospital health system. This transformation-focused role will build and standardize front-end Revenue Cycle operations, strengthen accountability and performance, improve the patient experience, and support revenue integrity.
Key responsibilities include: Lead Patient Access and Financial Clearance functions, including registration, eligibility/benefits, authorizations, financial clearance, patient estimates, point-of-service collections, and registration quality. Build standardized workflows, operating procedures, controls, performance expectations, and accountability structures. Lead and develop managers, supervisors, and staff while driving measurable operational results. Establish enterprise-wide authorization governance and financial clearance standards. Develop KPIs and use operational and financial data to identify trends, improve performance, and reduce front-end denials. Partner with IT, Finance, clinical and operational leadership, Managed Care, HIM, Revenue Integrity, and Patient Financial Services to improve workflows and resolve barriers. Serve as the Revenue Cycle business owner for Patient Access and Financial Clearance workflow design and optimization related to MEDITECH Expanse, including requirements, testing, validation, adoption, and operational readiness. Lead workflow redesign, technology implementation, and organizational change while maintaining strong day-to-day operations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, HIM, Public Health, or related field; Master’s preferred. Hospital Revenue Cycle experience required; ambulatory experience preferred.7+ years of progressive healthcare Revenue Cycle or Patient Access experience, with significant hospital experience.5+ years of leadership experience overseeing managers, supervisors, or complex teams. Demonstrated success transforming or redesigning Patient Access or Financial Clearance operations. Strong knowledge of registration, eligibility, authorization, financial clearance, estimates, POS collections, and denial prevention. Strong leadership, change management, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration skills. CHAM, CRCR, or related certification preferred. MEDITECH and/or MEDITECH Expanse experience strongly preferred.
