Flowers Communications Group (FCG) is looking for a bilingual Assistant Account Executive (AAE) to join our Chicago team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career communications professional who is curious, culturally connected, a strong writer, and ready to learn the agency business through hands-on experience. As an AAE, you’ll work alongside experienced PR and integrated marketing professionals to bring client stories to life. You’ll support media relations, develop communications materials, research emerging trends and opportunities, contribute to client programs, and help create culturally relevant communications for diverse audiences. Your English/Spanish bilingual skills will be an important part of the role, supporting translation, adaptation, Spanish-language media relations, and communications designed to authentically connect with Hispanic/Latino audiences. The AAE works with guidance from more senior team members while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and building toward greater independence and Account Executive-level capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Client & Account Support Support the day-to-day execution of client accounts, programs, and communications initiatives. Assist with client meetings, status reports, presentations, recaps, timelines, and follow-up. Participate in client and internal meetings, capturing decisions, action items, and next steps. Develop a strong understanding of assigned clients—their brands, audiences, business objectives, and communications priorities. Manage assigned tasks and deadlines with strong organization, responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through. Collaborate with colleagues across PR, Strategy, Social/Influencer, Creative, Experiential, Project Management, and other agency teams. Integrated Marketing & Program Support Conduct research that helps inform client programs, communications strategies, presentations, and recommendations. Participate in brainstorms and bring ideas, cultural insights, and emerging trends to the table. Help ensure assigned work aligns with client objectives, audience insights, approved strategies, and brand standards. Build an understanding of how PR and media relations connect with social, influencer, experiential, creative, and other marketing disciplines. Media Relations Responsibilities:
Support the development and execution of PR and earned media campaigns that help tell compelling client stories. Draft communications materials including media pitches, press releases, media alerts, talking points, briefing materials, presentations, and other content. Research journalists, outlets, podcasts, influencers, and emerging media opportunities. Build and maintain targeted media lists and support media outreach and follow-up. Monitor news, cultural conversations, industry developments, and media coverage to identify opportunities relevant to clients. Assist with coordinating interviews, press opportunities, media requests, and client events. Track media coverage and contribute to client reports, campaign recaps, and measurement. Begin building relationships with journalists and media contacts, including Chicago, multicultural, and Spanish-language media. Support social media and influencer activities when integrated into client communications programs. Proofread and quality-check communications to ensure accuracy, consistency, and client readiness. Translation Responsibilities:
Translate and adapt communications materials from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Help ensure Spanish-language communications are accurate, culturally relevant, and consistent with the intended voice and message. Support communications developed specifically for Hispanic/Latino audiences. Conduct Spanish-language media research, monitoring, and outreach. Support relationships and communications with Spanish-language and Hispanic/Latino media. Bring cultural and linguistic insights that help strengthen client communications and audience connections. Required Skills & Experience:
Approximately 1-2 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, marketing, media, or a related field; relevant internships count. Professional proficiency in English and Spanish, written and spoken, is required. Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and research skills in both English and Spanish. Ability to translate and culturally adapt communications between English and Spanish. Strong organization and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others. Curiosity about media, culture, brands, current events, and what makes a great story. Openness to feedback and enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills. Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, Spanish, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent capability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous internship or early-career agency experience. Familiarity with the Chicago media landscape, including multicultural and Spanish-language media. Experience or interest in communications targeting Hispanic/Latino audiences. Familiarity with media monitoring, social media, analytics, or AI tools used in communications. Exposure to consumer, QSR, healthcare, retail, or other relevant industries.
