Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Production Technician to provide operational leadership and hands-on capability to support increasingly complex production and test activities. Sets up and operates automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation | Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications | Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment | Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures Impact of the Role General Profile Requires working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical scientific or operational processes Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods Works with a moderate degree of supervision Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
Essential Functions:
Sets up and operates production equipment to manufacture, process, and assemble various commercial products and substances. Uses product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOP) to produce products. Monitors output for quality and conformance to required metrics. Prepares and maintains required records of production activities and reports any inconsistencies or equipment issues. Follows established guidelines for safe material handling and protective gear. Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency. Establishes a standard production rate in performance of maintenance, production, clerical, and other worker operations. Troubleshoots issues related to manufacturing operations and industrial layout.
Required Qualifications:
Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or
Experience Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Ability to identify and seek needed information. Research skills. Problem-solving skills. Machine Operation. Machine Programming, Manufacturing. Numerical Control. Precision Measurement. Quality Inspection. Reading Blueprints/Diagrams. Safety Policies and Procedures. Record Keeping. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Physical Requirements:
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. May need to stand for long periods of time. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. May be requested to work a different shift. Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required. This position is Safety-Sensitive.
