About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced and versatile Farm Manager to oversee a diverse mixed agricultural operation in the fertile region near East London. This comprehensive role requires leadership in managing both crop production and livestock, optimizing operational efficiency, and ensuring profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agronomy, animal husbandry, financial management, and team leadership. You will be instrumental in the successful day-to-day running of the farm, contributing to sustainable practices and high-quality output in the Eastern Cape's agricultural sector.
Key Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of crop cultivation, including planting, maintenance, pest control, and harvesting. Oversee livestock operations, including feeding, health management, breeding programs, and welfare standards. Supervise and direct farm staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Develop and manage farm budgets, controlling expenses and maximizing revenue. Maintain farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, ensuring they are in good working order. Implement and promote sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.
Requirements: Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Management, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of experience in farm management, with a proven track record in mixed agriculture. Solid understanding of crop production cycles, soil science, and integrated pest management. Experience in livestock management, including cattle, sheep, or poultry, depending on farm focus. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of financial management and record-keeping for agricultural operations.
