About the role
Job Description:
Frame Builder: Read, interpret, and work from shop spec sheets. Select, measure, cut, and shape hardwood, plywood, and other wood materials using standard shop machinery (table saws, band saws, routers, shapers, and CNC routers).Assemble frame components using joinery techniques appropriate for upholstered furniture (doweled, corner-blocked, glued, screwed, and stapled joints).Ensure all built frames are structurally sound, square, level, and built to precise dimensions. Inspect finished frames to ensure smooth edges and proper preparation for webbers, springers, and upholsterers. Maintain equipment, perform routine tool maintenance, and keep a clean, safe workspace.
Qualifications
Experience:
3+ years of experience in furniture frame building, cabinet making, or custom woodworking (upholstery frame experience strongly preferred).Tool Proficiency: Mastery of power tools and stationary shop equipment (table saws, miter saws, pneumatic staple/nail guns, shapers, sanders).
Technical Skills:
Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints accurately; strong understanding of wood species, grain directions, and structural integrity. Math & Measurement: Proficient with tape measures, calipers, and precise fractional/decimal conversions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive manual work in a shop environment.
