Responsibilities/
Essential Functions: The Account Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with assigned customers while ensuring their transportation and logistics needs are met efficiently and professionally. This position serves as a primary point of contact for customers, coordinating with internal operations, customs brokerage, transportation, and sales teams to ensure shipments move smoothly from origin to destination.
Duties: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers and maintain strong, professional relationships. Develop a thorough understanding of each customer’s business, shipping requirements, processes, and expectations. Communicate proactively with customers regarding shipment status, delays, exceptions, documentation requirements, and other relevant issues. Conduct regular customer check-ins and business reviews to evaluate service performance and identify areas for improvement. Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries, concerns, and service issues. Assist with resolving shipment discrepancies, service failures, and billing concerns by working closely with accounting and operations to resolve issues. Partner with management and sales team members regarding customer retention strategies and account development. Maintain a high level of customer service while balancing customer needs with company policies and operational capabilities.
Education and Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, account management required. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).Familiarity with export and import documentation software/tools is a plus (Descartes).
