About the role
We are hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support a high-capacity data center construction project onsite in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is an additional headcount position supporting a busy Project Manager in a fast-paced construction environment. The APM will support meetings, notes, action items, documentation, organization, follow-up, project coordination, and general administrative execution. There may also be opportunities to assist with scope review and other project-related activities. This is primarily an office-based onsite role. Occasional field walks may take place alongside the Project Manager, but this is not a field-heavy or true split office/field position.
Must Have:
5+ years of Assistant Project Manager or comparable project support experience on commercial or industrial construction projects Experience supporting a fast-paced construction project or job site environment Ability to work onsite full-time in Lincoln, Nebraska Strong organizational, documentation, meeting, and follow-up skills Ability to support a busy Project Manager and manage multiple priorities Proficiency with Google Workspace / Google Suite Strong communication skills and a collaborative, responsive working style Preferred Data center, mission-critical, or large-scale construction experienceCAPM certification Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field Experience supporting project meetings, action-item tracking, documentation, scope review, and team coordination Outgoing, high-energy, team-oriented communication style Ideal Backgrounds Strong candidates may come from backgrounds such as: Assistant Project Manager: Early-career construction professional who has already supported commercial or industrial construction projects and is ready to take on broader project coordination responsibilities. Project Coordinator moving toward APM: Construction Project Coordinator with hands-on experience supporting PMs, meetings, documentation, action items, project organization, and team coordination. Field-to-Project Management Candidate: Construction professional with relevant jobsite experience who is intentionally moving toward an office-based project management career path and understands how field execution connects to project coordination and documentation. This role is particularly well suited to someone who is organized, responsive, outgoing, collaborative, and comfortable supporting a fast-moving Project Manager and project team. Candidates Who Are Unlikely to Fit The role is unlikely to be a fit for candidates who are primarily: Fully remote-oriented or unable to work onsite full-time in Lincoln Independent PM-level professionals who are not interested in a support-oriented APM / coordinator-style role New graduates whose only construction experience consists of internships Candidates without relevant commercial or industrial construction project support experience Candidates looking for a field-heavy position Very passive or low-engagement communicators who may struggle in a highly collaborative project environment Compensation / Contract Information 1099 contractor structure 12-month contract, yearly renewal option depending on candidate 40 hours/week onsite, Monday–Friday Net 30 payment terms No insurance requirement Onsite in Lincoln, Nebraska No visa sponsorship available. This role is not compatible with TN or STEM OPT work authorization. Candidates must have independent U.S. work authorization compatible with a 1099 contractor structure.
