Mold Dog Network Greater Indianapolis, Indiana Full-Time | $50,000 to $58,000 per year Turn Your Professional Canine Experience Into a Unique Career Mold Dog Network is looking for an experienced professional canine handler to join our growing mold-detection inspection team in the greater Indianapolis area. The selected handler will be partnered with a professionally trained Belgian Malinois to perform mold-detection inspections in homes and businesses. This is an unusual opportunity to build a career working alongside an exceptional detection canine while helping property owners identify areas that may require further mold investigation. A Belgian Malinois is an intelligent, powerful and extremely energetic working breed. Successfully handling one requires confidence, consistency, physical ability, sound judgment and a genuine understanding of high-drive working dogs. This is not an entry-level dog-handling position. Personal pet ownership alone will not qualify as professional handling experience. What You Will Do:
You and your canine partner will conduct professional mold-detection inspections in residential and commercial properties. You will direct the canine through structured searches, recognize and document trained alerts, communicate professionally with customers and prepare clear inspection reports.
Your responsibilities will include:
Safely housing and caring for a Belgian Malinois working canine Conducting mold-detection inspections in homes and businesses Handling the canine safely in unfamiliar and changing environments Completing structured canine training and conditioning Maintaining accurate training, care, deployment and performance records Documenting canine alerts and relevant inspection observations Preparing clear, accurate and professional customer reports Explaining the inspection process professionally to property owners Maintaining the canine’s health, appearance and operational readiness Safely transporting the canine in the company-provided vehicle Maintaining the assigned vehicle, kennel and equipment Communicating promptly with customers and company management Participating in continuing education, evaluations and recertification Following all Mold Dog Network safety, inspection and documentation procedures Schedule and Travel Most inspections and customer appointments take place Monday through Friday during normal daytime business hours, generally between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The number and location of inspections will vary. On days when no customer inspections are scheduled, the handler will generally complete approximately two hours of structured canine training, conditioning and required documentation while remaining available for scheduled company responsibilities. Occasional longer-distance travel is required. Certain assignments may involve overnight stays outside the greater Indianapolis area. Mold Dog Network provides the company vehicle and covers approved business-travel expenses. Because the canine lives with the handler, this position carries daily responsibility. The handler must provide appropriate feeding, exercise, safety and general care seven days per week, including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must possess: Extensive professional dog-handling or dog-training experience Demonstrated experience with high-drive or working-breed dogsA strong understanding of canine behavior, body language, reinforcement and drive management The confidence and physical ability to safely handle a Belgian Malinois An appropriate home environment and secure facility for housing and exercising the canine The ability and willingness to care for the canine every day Excellent written communication and documentation skills Strong customer-service and interpersonal skillsA professional appearance and demeanor Comfort entering and working inside customers’ homes and businesses The ability to use mobile applications, inspection software and digital reporting toolsA valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record The ability to pass a background check and drug screening The ability to travel throughout greater Indianapolis and occasionally complete overnight assignments
Preferred Experience:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following: Detection-dog handling Search-and-rescue canine work Military or law-enforcement K9 operations Professional working-dog training Scent-detection programs Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds or comparable high-drive working breeds Canine training records, deployment logs and certification standards Residential or commercial inspections Customer-facing field services Preparing professional reports or field documentation Home and Canine-
Housing Requirements:
The canine will live with the selected handler while remaining the property of Mold Dog Network. Before placement, Mold Dog Network will evaluate and approve the proposed living environment. The property must provide secure, appropriate space for safely housing, exercising and training the canine. Any household members, children and other animals must be compatible with the safe placement of a high-drive working dog. The handler must follow all company requirements concerning the canine’s housing, care, training, transportation, deployment and veterinary treatment. Who Will Succeed in This Position?
