As Wisconsin's heritage news-talk station, Newsradio 620 WTMJ is seeking a full-time producer to produce live, local news and sports programming. The primary responsibilities of this role include producing Wisconsin’s Midday News, working with on-air hosts on content planning and execution, running the board for drive-time shows, supporting the Content Director with show production and log fulfillment, collaborating with other show producers to share news, ideas, and audio, working with marketing/promotions on contesting and sponsorships, and assisting engineers in ensuring the station operates within FCC guidelines and remains on-the-air.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for local and national news, politics and sports, along with previous experience behind the scenes producing for a news-talk format while being proactive and energetic about growing the show both on-air and online and helping Wisconsin’s Midday News reach new heights.
Career responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Produce Wisconsin's Midday News on WTMJ from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Maintain an understanding of and interest in the daily news cycle.
Work with on-air hosts to develop daily content plans and social media strategies.
Source potential contributors and interviewees.
Post on social media about the show, including stories, interviews, and podcasts.
Convert text, graphics, video, and audio files for all digital platforms.
Create daily audio and video content.
Contribute to and make use of archived audio files and sources for content segments.
Respond to audience feedback and refer matters to other departments as necessary.
Demonstrate proficiency with editing software such as Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere Pro for production purposes.
Utilize AI tools to support news research, content development, editing, and distribution while maintaining accuracy, authenticity, and editorial judgment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Previous experience producing news-talk programming, working in a newsroom, or working in television news.
A passion for local news and covering impactful stories.
An understanding of the daily news cycle and current events.
A desire to be part of a team and work in a fast-paced environment.
Personal sense of responsibility and accountability.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Willingness to accept and provide feedback.
Valid driver’s license required.
Hours/Salary/Benefits
This is a non-exempt rolewithovertime eligible for hours worked over 40 per week. The salary rate is to bedeterminedby the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.
This role is eligible for full benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, Life Insurance, STD, LTD, 401(k) Plan, Dependent Care, paid parental leave, and more with opportunities for salary growth increase with skills and responsibilities and meeting targeted goals. The position will be required to work some evenings and weekends based on station events, promotions, and community activities.
