About the role

Conflicts Attorney Our client, a leading Am Law firm, is seeking a Conflicts Attorney to join its Risk Management and Conflicts team. This position offers substantial remote work flexibility with occasional in-office attendance and presents an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in professional responsibility, conflicts analysis, and law firm risk management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in reviewing and resolving conflicts issues related to new clients, new matters, lateral hires, and ongoing representations while working closely with firm attorneys, compliance professionals, and leadership.
Responsibilities: Review, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest issues related to:
  • New client engagements
  • New matters
  • Additional parties added to existing matters
  • Attorney lateral hires
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable jurisdictional ethics rules
  • Research and analyze domestic and international professional responsibility requirements
  • Review intake submissions to ensure complete and accurate conflict information
  • Develop conflict search strategies and analyze conflict reports
  • Identify potential legal and business conflicts and recommend appropriate resolutions
  • Draft, review, and coordinate:
  • Conflict waivers
  • Engagement letters
  • Ethical wall documentation
  • Other risk management materials
  • Establish and manage ethical screens and information barriers
  • Coordinate directly with attorneys, compliance professionals, and firm leadership on conflict issues
  • Review lateral hire conflict analyses and assist with conflict resolution for incoming attorneys
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written guidance regarding conflicts and professional responsibility issues
  • Assist with attorney and staff training on conflicts procedures and firm policies
  • Support departmental projects and risk management initiatives
Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in the United States
  • Experience as a practicing attorney and/or conflicts attorney in a law firm environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Legal ethics
  • Professional responsibility rules
  • Attorney conflicts of interest
  • Risk management principles
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate complex conflicts issues clearly and effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Preferred Experience
  • Large law firm conflicts experience
  • Experience reviewing and resolving conflicts related to:
  • New matters
  • Lateral attorney hires
  • International representations
  • Familiarity with:

  • Conflicts databases
  • Relational database systems

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 annually
