You won’t just push paper – you’ll touch substantive public-sector legal work, work closely with attorneys, and directly support municipal decision-makers. What You'll Work On You’ll focus on Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law matters for municipal and government-related clients, supporting attorneys across the full life cycle of public records issues. Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law (RTKL) requests and responses Public records collection, review, and organization Disclosure, exemption, and redaction analysis RTKL appeals and proceedings before the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records (OOR) Municipal and government-related legal matters General litigation support tied to public-sector work Legal and factual research in administrative and municipal contexts The core challenge: balance transparency, confidentiality, and tight deadlines in a high-volume public records environment.
What You'll Be Doing: Assisting attorneys with Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law requests and responses
Reviewing and organizing public records and supporting documentation Identifying records subject to disclosure, exemption, and redaction Preparing correspondence, filings, and other legal documents related to RTKL matters Supporting RTKL appeals and matters involving the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records (OOR) Conducting legal and factual research on public records and municipal issues Coordinating with attorneys, municipal clients, and government agencies Providing general litigation support on municipal and government-related matters Managing multiple RTKL matters and deadlines with minimal supervision Maintaining organized files and documentation for active and closed matters
What We're Looking For: 3+ years of paralegal or legal support experience
Hands-on Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law / RTKL experience strongly preferred Background in municipal, government, administrative, or litigation work preferred Proven strength in organization and high-volume document review Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines independently The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention You’ve already handled Pennsylvania RTKL requests from intake through response, and you understand how to spot exemptions, apply redactions, and document your decisions. You don’t shy away from tight timelines, high stakes, or complex municipal fact patterns. Maybe you’ve supported appeals before the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records or worked in a municipal or government setting where public records issues were part of your daily rhythm. You’re comfortable acting as the connective tissue between attorneys, municipal staff, and agencies.
