The position will play an important role in advancingthe Real Estate program, strengthening partnerships with the realestate industry, and contributing to the development of innovativeacademic and applied-learning initiatives that respond to theevolving needs of the commercial and residential real estatesectors.
The Department of Finance, Real Estate, and Decision Sciences in the W. Frank Barton School of Business invites applications for anine-month, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of RealEstate, beginning August of 2027.
Successful candidates will also play an important role in theacademic leadership and continued development of the Real Estateprogram, with the opportunity to assume formal program leadershipresponsibilities accompanied by an additional stipend. Thecandidate will be actively engaged with the Center for Real Estateand its research, educational, and industry partnership activities. As the candidate develops in the role, and depending onqualifications and mutual interest, there may also be anopportunity to serve as Director of the Center for RealEstate.

Job Summary:
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels usingvarious instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into thecourse design and engage with industry and local business communityapplied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities(e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)

Job Duties:
1. Teaching : Teach two courses per semester (four coursesper academic year) in the Real Estate program at the undergraduateand graduate levels, with courses offered in both in-person andonline formats. Teaching assignments may include, depending on thecandidate's expertise and program needs, Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Valuation and Appraisal, RealEstate Law, Property Management, Real Estate Investment Analysis, Urban Land Development, and other related courses.
2. Applied Learning and Industry Engagement : Incorporateapplied and experiential learning into course design and developmeaningful opportunities for students to engage with the realestate industry and broader business community through appliedprojects, case studies, professional engagement, and otherexperiential learning activities.
3. Research : Develop and maintain an active and sustainableresearch program consistent with AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA)expectations and the requirements for tenure and promotion at the Barton School of Business. The successful candidate will beexpected to produce high-quality scholarly research with thepotential for publication in respected and leading journals in realestate, finance, economics, or closely related fields.
4. Service and Engagement : Contribute meaningful service tothe department, Barton School of Business, university, profession, and broader community. Service may include participation incommittees, student mentoring, student recruitment and retentioninitiatives, professional organizations, industry engagement, outreach activities, and other activities that advance the missionof the department and school.

Faculty Requirements
A Ph.D. in Real Estate Finance, Economics or a closely relatedfield from an accredited institution, with demonstrated teachingand/or research expertise in real estate.
Applicants who are at an advanced stage of their doctoralstudies (ABD) will be considered if they provide strong evidencethat all degree requirements will be completed by the end of May2027.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree completed or in progress at an AACSB-accreditedinstitution.
Relevant professional or industry experience in real estate ora closely related field.
Experience incorporating applied or experiential learning intoteaching.
Research expertise directly related to real estate and itsapplication to industry, communities, or public policy.
Evidence of an established record of scholarly research or astrong research pipeline with demonstrated potential forpublication in high-quality real estate, finance, economics, orrelated academic journals.
Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, effective teachingin real estate or related areas. Evidence may include teachingevaluations, course development, applied-learning activities, instructional technologies or software, experience with multipleinstructional delivery formats, or other indicators of teachingeffectiveness.
