About the role
- Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal cases throughout Arizona
- Handle cases from initial appearance through final resolution
- Appear regularly in municipal, justice, and superior courts
- Conduct pretrial conferences, evidentiary hearings, settlement conferences, and trials
- Review police reports, body-worn camera footage, forensic evidence, and other discovery
- Identify legal and factual issues and develop effective defense strategies
- Draft and argue motions, including motions to suppress and other substantive pretrial motions
- Negotiate with prosecutors and advocate for favorable resolutions
- Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and trial
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding their cases
- Work collaboratively with the firm's attorneys, paralegal, and support staff
- Maintain organized case files, deadlines, and court calendars
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Arizona and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona
- Criminal law experience strongly preferred
- Courtroom and litigation experience preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
- Excellent communication and client-service skills
- Ability to independently manage a caseload while working as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional judgment and a commitment to providing high-quality representation
