Full TimeOn-site in Lake Charles, LADesign DepartmentReporting to the Engineering ManagerAn established industrial contractor with more than 70 years of experience is seeking a Precast Design Engineer to support complex construction projects nationwide.The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.The organization specializes in turnkey construction solutions, including specialized precast concrete manufacturing and design-build services, and is widely recognized as a go-to contractor for high-grade epoxy intumescent and concrete fireproofing, primarily serving the petrochemical industry.This role is ideal for an experienced engineer or engineering designer who enjoys transforming structural concepts into accurate 3D models, shop drawings, and production-ready deliverables while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams.Essential FunctionsPerform structural design support and analysis of prestressed and precast concrete elements, including beams, columns, wall panels, piles, and related systemsDevelop detailed 3D models and shop drawings for precast concrete systems, cast-in-place foundations, and miscellaneous structural components using industry-standard CAD and modeling softwarePrepare and review engineering calculations, shop drawings, erection drawings, and Bills of Materials to ensure accuracy, constructability, and alignment with design intentRead and interpret structural, architectural, and MEP drawings to develop coordinated and buildable precast solutionsCoordinate with engineers, detailers, production teams, and field personnel to ensure alignment between design intent, fabrication requirements, and erection sequencingReview and respond to RFIs, submittals, and design revisions throughout the project lifecycleEnsure all models and drawings comply with applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ACI, and PCI requirementsPerform quality control checks on models and drawings to ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practicesSupport optimization and value engineering efforts to improve efficiency, constructability, and cost effectiveness of precast systemsProvide technical support during fabrication and field erection, including troubleshooting design or constructability issuesMentor and support detailing personnel to ensure alignment with engineering design intent and continued development of team capabilitiesKnowledge, Abilities, and Skills for SuccessStrong understanding of precast and prestressed concrete systems, including load paths, connections, and constructability considerationsProficiency in 3D modeling and detailing software such as Tekla Structures, Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar platformsSolid understanding of precast production processes, erection methods, and coordination with field operationsAbility to interpret construction drawings and translate engineering requirements into accurate fabrication-ready models and drawingsStrong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy and qualityAbility to manage xhyhwjd multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and field teamsPractical solution-oriented mindset with a focus on constructability and efficiencyQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience5+ years of experience in precast prestressed concrete design, modeling, and/or detailingStrong hands-on experience with 3D modeling and shop drawing developmentExperience in construction, industrial, or heavy structural environments preferredProfessional Engineer PE license preferred, but not requiredBenefitsCompetitive base depending on experienceRelocation package and/or sign-on bonus may be considered Medical, dental, and vision benefits HSA, Group Term Life, and AD&DVoluntary Term LifeShort Term and Long Term Disability 401(K) with matchPTO, Holidays and more!
